Implementation of Safe-Riding Rules – Helmets and Boots

Dear Members,

Warm season’s greetings to all during this festive period. The unprecedented tragedies of the year has doubtless cast a terrible pall of gloom over all of us and has dented what should be a very happy time. We can only join our fellow citizens in somber prayer and contemplation in the hope that the worst is behind us and that these tragedies will never be repeated. Our thoughts are with the blameless victims and their families and friends who must find the courage and strength to endure their loss.

As you may be aware, the last A.G.M unanimously resolved the mandatory the use of helmets and proper riding footwear while riding. There are no exceptions to the rule. This means that all riders at the club must adhere to the rule. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes track-work, arena training, stick-and –balling, umpiring and general riding. Also to be clear, proper footwear means full riding boots or short boots with chaps. Sneakers with bandages are not considered proper.

Riders will be reminded of the rule and will be asked to immediately dismount if they are improperly attired. In this regard, it is the duty of all members and the club staff to remind riders of the rule. It is also the responsibility of members to ensure that their employees and guests are properly equipped to ride.

The rule is effective immediately but will be enforced from 1 February 2015 to give members  and their employees time to familiarize themselves with the requirements. We trust that there will be no need to impose punitive measures and that riders will self-regulate. However, for those who do not follow the rule, we will impose a suspension from riding of 1 month for the first offense, 3 months for the 2nd offense and a reference to the disciplinary committee if the offense is repeated. Members whose employees or guests flout the rule will be fined RM2,000 for the first offense, RM5,000 for the 2nd offense and will be referred to the disciplinary committee if the offense is repeated.
If you should have any query or comment or need any clarification, please do not hesitate to write to the Committee.

We wish for all our members that 2015 will be bring peace, generosity and kindness and above all SAFETY!

Kind regards

David Morais
